Why do you want to run for Benewah County Sheriff?
Answer: To restore public trust in the Sheriffs Office and personnel.
What is the primary role of the Sheriff?
Answer: Protect rights of Benewah County citizens, train employees to be more proactive in keeping the peace versus strict law enforcement, and restore complete, competent, and unbiased investigations.
Where does the government get its power from?
Answer: The consent of the governed.
Who gives us our inalienable rights?
Answer: God
What lense do you see the constitution through?
Answer: Original intent of people who wrote it
If a federal agency were to violate the rights of a citizen of this county what would you do?
Answer: Try to stop the violation of rights
Federal and State agencies have been harassing farmers over natural food such as meat, raw milk, and pickled food. If this happened in our county what would you do?
Answer: Protect the farmer and their property
Who did the founders put in charge of keeping the federal government in check?
Answer: The people, as electors
How would you handle and health situation like covid?
Answer: People have the right to choose if they want to stay home, mask up and take a vaccine. My job is to protect their rights and keep the peace.
How do you see yourself interacting with the St Maries Police?
Answer: I work well with the Mayor and City Council members. The Sheriff is chief law enforcement officer for the entire county. The city has done away with their Police department in the past, the Sheriff’s for the entire county.
What should the State of Idaho’s policy be regarding the prosecution of Fentanyl dealers?
Answer: We don’t need any more laws created, only courts that are willing to enforce punishments on convicted persons no matter the offense (Controlled substances, Domestic Violence, or DUI). Too many times “probation” is prescribed.
If a federal, state, local government entity, and/or the United Nations were to implement a policy of door-to-door gun confiscation in your jurisdiction, what would you do?
Answer: As Sheriff I will enforce the US and Idaho constitutions. Idaho state Constitution states “… No law shall impose licensure, registration or special taxation on the ownership or possession of firearms or ammunition. Nor shall any law permit the confiscation of firearms, except those actually used in the commission of a felony.”
In your opinion, if elected, who do you see yourself accountable to and why?
Answer: As any elected official, we are accountable to the citizen electors who elected us and if they are dissatisfied they may recall or not re-elect. Idaho state Constitution states “All political power is inherent in the people.”
Do you believe that North Idaho should implement a traffic control center? Why or why not?
Answer: I know some believe this infringement is acceptable due to terroristic activities. I do not agree with tracking citizens by vehicle or otherwise without due process.
What does religious freedom mean to you?
Answer: Ability to practice my religious interaction with my Savior and Lord and other people to do likewise toward theirs. Idaho State Constitution states “…but the liberty of conscience hereby secured shall not be construed to dispense with oaths or affirmations, or excuse acts of licentiousness or justify polygamous or other pernicious practices, inconsistent with morality or the peace or safety of the state; …”
